Association of Small and Medium Business - Region Sofia :: About us


The Association of small and medium business – region Sofia / ASMB/ was found in 2002 as a non-government organization by managers of three firms in small and medium sector – tourism services, consultancy services, trade: Sema Holidays - licensed tour operator, “Nord Impuls” - GBMH and “Electronica” - factory.
The Association started its activity as a non-profit organization in January 2002. The Association has been entered into the Register of non-profit legal persons of Sofia City Court, Company Division, under Court Order No.1/18.01.2002 upon consideration of company file No. 12514/2001.

The Association of small and medium business - Sofia region unites the financial and intellectual potential of 46 legal persons /limited liability companies (OOD), single limited liability companies (EOOD), joint-stock companies (AD) and sole traders (ET)/ and 150 natural persons of Sofia city and Sofia region. The Association does not prepare consolidated balance sheet. The Annual Balance Sheet is prepared on the basis of incomes from membership fees, consulting activities of the members of the association and sponsorship.

The good part of the companies - members of the association have an average annual turnover within the range of 150 -250 thousands of Euro. The leading companies in that respect are: “Nord-Impuls” OOD, ET “Sema Holidays”, "MC and Co" OOD, "Damark" OOD, "Doctors" OOD, SD "Finsis - Hristovitch and Co", “Agency for advertisement and design” EOOD, ET “Make”, ET Ventzeslav Andreev, etc.

The members of the association operate mainly on voluntary basis. Among them there are specialists and experts in almost every field of the economy and the management of various social activities, including manufacture and trade with consumer goods, transport activities, tourist agency, real estate agency, advertising and publishing activities, financial and accounting services, consultants under pre-accession programmes of the European Union, journalists.
      The mission
Enhancement of business environment for achieving sustainable and balanced economic results for improving quality of life of at regional and national level.
      The main goals of the Association are:
  • to encourage entrepreneurial spirit and private initiative in the society;
  • to represent and protect the interests of the Association members;
  • to provide its members with information, marketing and other services, opportunities for qualification and training in the field of management and company strategy;
  • elaboration of projects for application under pre-accession EU programmes - PHARE, ISPA, SAPARD;

The main tasks of the Association are to create sustainable environment for the small and medium businesses and to increase the competitiveness of the products on the external market.
The idea for founding the ASMB is that the basic part of the GDP is formed by enterprises in Sofia region and 90% of them are small and medium enterprises.
Another task is to provide defense of the economic interest of this target group in the field of bank and risky loans.
Partnership is of great importance for the successful management of the project.

      The Association of SMB - Sofia Region has the following facilities on the territory of Sofia:
  • 3 offices, completely furnished and equipped with computers, fax machines, phone lines and Internet lines;
  • 2 conference rooms /one conference room with 25-30 seats and one conference room with 10-12 seats/, furnished and equipped with copy center, projectors and multimedia facilities;
  • 3 transport vehicles;
